Former congressman and judge Bill Schuette announced Wednesday he has received the endorsements from another 149 grassroots Republican activists, including 43 from Macomb County alone, boosting his total number of endorsements to 1,350 in the nominating race for attorney general in Michigan.
“This shows the hunger for change and reform by the citizens of Michigan,” Schuette said in a release. “They know that state government has to stop emptying out prisons and decimating law enforcement. The outpouring of support from people all across our great state is both humbling and energizing.”
Also seeking the nomination for attorney general is term-limited Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop of Rochester.
Republicans will choose their nominee to run in the November general election at their state convention at the end of August.
