Vice President Joe Biden will be the keynote speaker for the Michigan Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner April 20 at Cobo Hall in Detroit.
The announcement of Biden as keynote speaker was made Tuesday by newly elected Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Lon Johnson, who called Biden "a champion for the causes of everyday men and women in Michigan."
Democrats annually hold Jefferson-Jackson events around the country, much as Republicans annually hold Lincoln Day events.
A majority of Michigan's ticket-splitting voters backed Biden and President Barack Obama in last November's election, even as they returned Republicans to Congress and the state House.
In Oakland County, Mich., Republicans' Lincoln Day keynote speaker May 21 will be New York mogul Donald Trump.
