Friday, Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak suggested the fake tea party investigation of 2010 should be reopened now that Democrat Party Chairman Mark Brewer has been fingered as involved in it. But Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said late Friday afternoon that it's not up to her.
Cooper said the original investigation was conducted by an appointed one-man grand jury. That juror, retired Oakland County Circuit Judge Ed Sosnick, can't legally reopen it either, Cooper said. And, she added, the prosecutor's office isn't an investigating agency.
"If there's new information that needs to be addressed, it needs to go to an investigative agency," Cooper said via voicemail. "Tell Mr. Schostak to the call the sheriff's department if he has a problem."
