The Associated Press reported the following Monday morning:
A recall effort is organizing against Republican Gov. Rick Snyder.
A group called Michigan Citizens United filed proposed recall petition wording with election officials Monday in Washtenaw County, Snyder’s county of residence.
The group says on its website it plans to begin collecting voter signatures as early as next month if the wording on its petition is approved. The group says it will need about 807,000 valid signatures to make the ballot in November.
Michigan Citizens United filed paperwork for a political action committee last month.
The group says it is opposed to a law signed by Snyder that gives more power to emergency managers appointed by the state to assist financially troubled schools and local governments.
A phone call seeking comment was left Monday with a spokeswoman for Snyder.
