Bob Gray, independent candidate for Congress in Michigan's 9th Congressional District, on Saturday threw his support to Rocky Raczkowski, the Republican challenger to U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Hills.
Gray, of Auburn Hills, announced mid morning Saturday by email that he would be supporting Raczkowski of Farmington Hills, with three days until the polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Six candidates are officially on the ballot Tuesday in the 9th Congressional District, which is entirely within Oakland County borders.
They are Peters, Raczkowski, Gray, independent Matthew Kuofie of Beverly Hills, Green Party candidate Doug Campbell of Ferndale, and Libertarian Adam Goodman of Royal Oak.
Goodman also threw his support to Raczkowski Thursday.
Michigan's 9th Congressional District is considered one of the tossup races this year as Republicans nationally try to erase the Democratic Party majority in the U.S. House.
Peters won the seat two years ago by defeating a longtime sitting Republican incumbent.
The 9th District represents Pontiac, Lake Angelus, Auburn Hills, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake, Orchard Lake, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, Rochester, Troy, Clawson, Royal Oak, Berkley, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Franklin, Farmington, Farmington Hills, and the townships of Bloomfield, Southfield, Waterford, West Bloomfield, Oakland and part of Orion.
